Fixed-term contract for 6 months, 0.8 FTE.

This is a part time post working at 80% of full-time hours for a temporary period (6 months) providing cover for a colleague taking leave, commencing in January 2023.

As a member of the School’s teaching staff, you will use your knowledge of a range of teaching and assessment strategies to provide high quality learning opportunities. You will be familiar with facilitating interdisciplinary and/or transdisciplinary learning, with a specific emphasis on the field of Global Sustainable Development.

The Fellow will be required to teach on the first year undergraduate core module ‘Environmental Principles of Global Sustainable Development’ and on other modules such as ‘Security, Sovereignty and the Global Food System’. In addition, the Fellow will contribute to other modules within the GSD curriculum, as well as undertake some marking and/or supervision of final year undergraduate student dissertations on topics that relate to their specific areas of expertise.

**JOB PURPOSE**

Work with other academic staff associated with the courses to:

- undertake the range of academic duties required to deliver high quality teaching on the courses;
- contribute to the overall courses’ content through the delivery of appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment materials that utilize a variety of pedagogic approaches;
- supervise and support student research to foster a research-led teaching culture within the department.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

To teach a core module on Environmental Principles of Global Sustainable Development and teach on other modules such as Security, Sovereignty and the Global Food System, delivering innovative and appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment techniques and material, which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students;
To undertake relevant marking and supervision, as required;
To undertake the range of duties associated with teaching academic modules including delivering content, marking assessments, and providing feedback and academic support to students in accordance with the University’s requirements and guidelines;
To understand equal opportunity issues as they impact upon areas of teaching;
To carry out regular and routine administration associated with teaching and research activity as required by the University’s procedures and its students (for example student attendance and engagement monitoring, attendance at and participation in Exam Boards);
To contribute to the efficient operation and administration of the degrees by performing administrative duties as allocated by the Head of School;
To participate in quality assurance mechanisms by contributing to regular module evaluation processes designed to review the operation of modules, responding to student feedback on modules, and suggesting changes aimed at improving module effectiveness;
To ensure compliance with health and safety in all aspects of work and, when appropriate, undertake risk assessments.
