The Cavendish Laboratories are at a highly transformative stage in its history as it moves into its brand new building, the Ray Dolby Centre.

The new building will have world-class research and teaching facilities that will demand high levels of professional operational support.

As part of the organic growth of facility operations, an opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of a Soft Facilities Deputy. This role sits within the facility team of the Professional Services Division, offering vital support to the Department's research and educational activities.

We are seeking to appoint a self-motivated individual to join our Soft Facilities team as a deputy to the Soft Facilities Manager. You will provide an efficient and effective service to the departments, staff, students and guests. This will include the set up of meeting and seminar rooms for events, office moves, basic cleaning, building security and access. Further responsibilities will include the supervision of portering, cleaning services and subcontractors, along with the procurement of facilities consumables. You will work closely with the Soft Facilities Manager, offering support and cover for resilience to the service.

Ideally, you will have worked in a similar role before, and have basic IT literacy and CUFS finance system experience, although training will be given in the use of various computerised systems. You will have technical aptitude and the ability to work with mínimal supervision and as part of a team. Good communication and timekeeping skills are essential. Being highly motivated, conscientious, and honest is a prerequisite for this role.

You will be educated to GCSE level including English and Maths/NVQ level 2 or equivalent level of practical experience.
