Job Title: Deputy Laboratory Operations Director

Location: Babraham Research Campus Ltd, Cambridge Biotech Cluster

Salary Range: £35,000 - £38,000 per annum

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Deputy Laboratory Operations Director to join our team at Babraham Research Campus Ltd. As a key member of our Entrepreneurship and Scientific Services team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Live Labs bio incubator laboratory facilities and campus scientific services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the management of small teams, including supporting the Apprentice Lab Technician
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the laboratory, including cleaning, laundry, and waste management services
  • Manage laboratory equipment and specific laboratory plant, ensuring safe maintenance and minimizing disruption to users
  • Write and review documents as needed for Live Labs and Campus, including risk assessments, policies, standard operating procedures, and guidance documents
  • Cascade information effectively to Campus users, implementing campus policy and statutory legislation

Requirements:

  • BSc in Biology or another relevant subject with laboratory experience
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment, technical experience in a biological research setting, and knowledge of Health and Safety, specifically Biological Safety
  • Excellent customer service skills, ability to work on own initiative, and within a busy work environment
  • Strong administrative and clerical skills, ability to deal with clients/customers on all levels, and flexible approach to work
