We have an exciting opportunity for a Communication office to join our Central services team. As Communications officer you will be supporting the executive director of people and programmes in delivering and implementing our communications strategy.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Coordinate and help deliver our external and internal communication, including social media, content creation, and engagement, and ensure key messages are communicated positively and effectively
- Develop and maintain an internal and external communications calendar
- Maintain our intranet, Connect, updating and publishing new content
- Orchestrate and work alongside the executive team to support our campaigns for internal and external audiences
- Support in the production of staff briefings led by the executive team
- Website management including updates and publishing new content, including liaison with our website developer and other suppliers as needed
- Compile and support the production of an engaging monthly newsletter, collaborating with key stakeholders, to ensure regular communication of updates and news and accurate contact information
- Be the first point of contact for the media, and build and maintain effective relationships with agencies, journalists and media partners
- Write or outsource to a trusted third party our annual reports, blogs, newsletters, articles and press releases
- Maintain strong relationships with staff and key contributors
- Manage brand consistency, including maintaining brand book and tone of voice guidelines, approve the design and content of marketing collateral developed by staff; and develop marketing collateral as needed
- Copywriting for a variety of audiences and channels, especially press releases, newsletters, articles and blogs
- Co-ordinate the communications for supporters and fundraisers, including promotional information
- Produce monthly statistics and work on metrics for our website, intranet, social media and public relations activities, working to agreed targets
- Keep abreast of legislation in communications and the charity and housing sectors
- Manage our stakeholder database and work with staff to ensure it is kept up to date and segmented
- Arrange photography or videography
- Prepare award submissions
- Facilitate the receipt of donations
- Line-management responsibility for digital marketing apprentice, ensuring adequate coaching and support

**ROLE REQUIREMENTS**

This role will require an Enhanced disclosure and barring service check is a requirement for this role. This would be completed on appointment of the role.

**EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS**
- Experience of using design software such as Photoshop/Canva to create graphics, leaflets, videos and gifs
- Experience of using social media management platforms, i.e Hootsuite and Meta Business Suite and knowledge of best practice
- Experience of Google Analytics and ability to measure and adapt UX
- Knowledge of GDPR rules and regulations
- Experience with WordPress (website) and SharePoint (intranet)
- Experience of communications, public relations and marketing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - proven ability to adapt written style for different audiences and channels
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- Customer focussed with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative
- Organised, proactive and self-motivated - with the ability to prioritise and use planning tools
- Confidence with dealing with members of the public and press
- Ability to interpret communications and marketing data into actionable insights
- Competent in the use of Microsoft office products
- Good team working skills
- Able to work autonomously and collaborate with department managers for projects
- Experience of creating communications plans and strategy

We were formed in April 2001 through the merger of the Society of St Dismas (founded in 1962) and St Petroc Housing association (founded in 1972). Both organisations shared a passion for housing and supporting vulnerable single people.

We support 16-65 year olds. Our services include outreach to rough sleepers, supported accommodation (direct access hostels, move-on accommodation, and resettlement flats), day centres, community support, housing first and landlord support services.
