Manchester, United Kingdom Consumer Regulation Full time

**Summary**:
We are looking for an Assistant Director of Assessment and Tenant Engagement to join us, taking responsibility for leading our frontline engagement team.

The recently passed Government Social Housing Regulation Bill gives us additional powers and responsibilities around the importance of safe, decent homes for social housing tenants and on landlord transparency and accountability. We have a key role in delivering these outcomes through an expanded, proactive consumer regulation function.

You will play a key part in this, leading in the initial assessment of referrals, identifying and escalating concerns for regulatory action and by ensuring we’re clear with stakeholders around the decisions we have taken. The role will be responsible both for leading our Assessment Team to provide a first-class service to all stakeholders who contact the regulator and leading our Tenant Engagement Team.

In this role you will lead our direct engagement with tenants, using feedback to shape our regulatory decisions and approach, including carrying out tenant engagement activities and ensuring high-quality analysis is used to support our regulatory decisions. You will also be responsible for leading our frontline assessment team, ensuring we respond appropriately to enquiries and referrals, taking appropriate decisions on escalation.

This is a fast-paced role, and you will be responsible for managing a large volume of reactive casework to agreed quality and timeliness standards, with a key part of the role being to ensure we communicate our responses and decisions to stakeholders in a clear and transparent way.

You will also lead our tenant engagement team, including carrying out direct engagement with tenants, ensuring feedback is used to inform regulatory decisions and approach. Through high-level analysis, you will ensure that the regulator is able to reach a balanced judgement of registered providers’ performance, particularly in relation to the service outcomes for tenants, and accountability to tenants.

**Responsibilities**:
You will have a demonstrable track record of engaging effectively with stakeholders, including diverse groups of tenants and/or consumers to deliver high quality services which meet a range of needs. As well as having strong leadership skills, you will be able to draw on a range of different sources of information and analysis to influence internal and external stakeholders in delivering the regulator’s strategic aims.
