North East London NHS Foundation Trust All Age Eating Disorder Service is based in the county of Kent. We have a strong focus on training and research and team members benefit from excellent training and CPD opportunities focused around developing exceptional NICE concordant skills in working with eating disorders and related conditions in children and young people and adults.

The post-holder will be a qualified fully registered HCPC/BABCP members with a passion for working in this area.

There are two main bases within Kent in Maidstone and Canterbury with a number of outlying clinics. Travel is required across sites in Kent.

- Age Eating Disorders Service based in the County of Kent. We have a strong focus on training and research and team members benefit from excellent training and CPD opportunities. We have well developed links with NHSE and access to up-to-date training within transformation therapies and Leadership. We have close links to Christchurch University and the University of Kent and their Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training and Clinical Apprenticeship Psychologist Masters Programmes respectively. Clinical Psychology Trainees have regular placements in our service.

Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

COVID-19 Vaccination

We continue to encourage all staff to ensure that they have been double vaccinated and received their booster. We recognise that taking the vaccine provides the best defence against COVID 19 for our patients, our staff and their families.

FREED (First episode Rapid Early intervention for Eating Disorders) is an early intervention pathway for young people aged 16-25 years of age who have an eating disorder. The post holder will be required to assess and treat all age patients who present with an eating disorder, predominantly those aged 16-25. In addition, the postholder will take a leadership role within the FREED pathway, including adherence to the FREED model of care, managing referrals, tracking and reporting of FREED outcome data, and delivering training on FREED.

As the service is exclusively an outpatient service, the post holder will not hold an inpatient case load, but the post holder will work with adolescent units and adult units in order to maintain joint working and smooth transition into and out of inpatient beds. The post holder will be expected to attend and participate in MDT team meetings as well as CPA meetings of cases on their case load.

The post holder will be required to hold a caseload and provide evidence-based treatment to adolescents and adults who present with an eating disorder.

The post holder will support the staff team and be an effective team member whilst working on their own initiative. They will supervise other staff members as required. They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies.

The post holder will be encouraged to take on a leadership role supported by the Service Manager and Clinical Lead. The service has excellent links to specialist training via Health Education England and maintains excellent training links with universities for nursing and clinical psychology training. There will be ample opportunities for supervising these placements along with teaching and CPD opportunities.
