The DCC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Process Improvement to join our talented and dynamic team supporting a significant level of change. Process & Governance is a newly created capability within Planning, Process & Insights to sit alongside Enterprise Planning and Business Insights at the heart of the DCC. This is a key leadership role that is critical to the successful delivery of the DCC strategy.

You will work closely with DCC Senior Leadership, programme teams and functions including Operations, Commercial, Finance and Technology as well as external service providers and governing bodies.

The Process Improvement Team will be responsible for working with the DCC ExCo and Directors to design, maintain and change control the process and governance frameworks that will underpin our operating model and ways of working. For the process element, a key success factor will be to ensure they are simple, effective, scalable and repeatable so that they can be operated in the most cost efficient and flexible way. Whilst for governance, it will be critical that this becomes an enabler of activity through being simple, clear and empowering, following the ‘rule of one’, with single points of accountability and no duplication of effort.

As this is a new capability, this is an exciting opportunity to build and develop the team, as well as being responsible for their day-to-day management.

**What you'll be doing**:

- Build, resource, develop and lead the Process Improvement Team and capability.
- Work closely with ExCo and Directors to lead the definition and documentation of DCC’s processes, governance and ways of working, consistent with the new Lifecycle Management approach and DCC Operating Model.
- Ensure non-Lifecycle Management processes are also documented with clear actions and governance.
- Ensure processes are repeatable, scalable and automated with standards and templates in place for all operating processes and clear performance standards for all internal and external parties.
- Define a process for controlling and documenting future changes in op model processes and implement these changes through Functions.
- Define process for controlling and documenting changes in governance.
- Define and operate a continuous improvement framework which empowers process ownership and continued improvement.
- Monitor and report on compliance with governance arrangements.
- Working across the Planning, Process & Insights function, ensure interfaces between Process Improvement and other DCC processes work efficiently and effectively.
- Drive cultural change across DCC around following process and governance and develop reporting around compliance.
- Maintain an in depth understanding of DCC programmes and work with the Business Insights team to identify and recommend improvement initiatives.
- Manage a complex stakeholder landscape to ensure a consistent understanding of programme planning and performance and associated risks across SEC, BEIS, Ofgem and internal stakeholders.
- As a member of the Planning, Process & Insights leadership team, actively contribute to effective leadership, development and engagement across the wider team.

- Excellent relationship development and management skills with the confidence to effectively challenge others where appropriate.
- Effective communication with an ability to rapidly interpret complex technical information and provide clear, concise insight and reporting that drives effective leadership decision making.
- Ability to manage a complex set of stakeholder interactions, both internal and external, and resolving conflicting priorities.
- Attention to detail and an analytical ability to help propose solutions to problems and appropriately prioritise activities.
- Strong initiative and drive, self-motivated with an aptitude to work well under pressure and with low supervision.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to DCC’s values and behaviours, roll modelling these at all times.
- Batchelor’s Degree qualification.
