**Job summary**:
This is a high-profile role at the heart of Head Office (HO) and presents a unique opportunity for a dynamic Engagement Lead to develop and implement an engagement and communications strategy. The role sits in Head Office Improvement and Culture Change team, providing support across MB Strategy, Head Office Improvement, Agile and the wider Director Head Office (DHO).

The team is acknowledged as being critical to driving improvement and behaviour change in HO to deliver the best outcomes for the business, and improve services delivered across Defence. The work we do as a team allows our people to operate seamlessly across organisational boundaries to deliver outstanding results.

The EL will have regular engagement with DHO Senior Management Team and will operate in a fast moving and rewarding environment.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week

**Job description**:
Primary objectives will include:

- Leading the drafting of effective comms on HO Improvement to ensure staff are engaged in the changes.
- Leading on development of the HO identify (part of HO improvement), creating and delivering robust and achievable engagement plans, targeting stakeholders through engagement activities.
- Working with the HO Improvement Assistant Heads to cohere engagement and communications across HO, coordinating and influencing engagement.
- Incorporating ideas from the work across HO Improvement, Strategic Hub and DDC to ensure staff at all levels are engaged. This includes communicating improvements to the working environment and workplace services being delivered in line with the Main Building Strategy.

Routine responsibilities will include the following:

- Working closely with the DHO outer office to communicate key messages across the 2* area.
- Proactively managing, coordinating, and responding to communications and engagement questions in shared mailboxes, escalating where necessary.
- Providing support in preparation of speaking events and take a lead in developing necessary slide packs and liaising with outer officers as required.
- Development of quarterly HO improvement Senior Leadership briefing materials.
- Supporting the HO Improvement team with ministerial and senior management briefings as required.
- Supporting secretariat activity for HO governance and manage the forward plan of wider governance groups, as required.
- Maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships with relevant functions (Finance, Commercial, People, Digital) and wider HO.
- Working with specific project/programme comms teams in other parts of HO to coordinate, influence and amplify engagement in related initiatives.

The HO Improvement team works in an Agile way using Scrum methodology and the team flexes to meet priorities and demands across the portfolio of work. All team members are expected to support the delivery of the HO Improvement Strategy.
