**About the JAC**

The JAC is responsible for designing, planning, and running recruitment campaigns to select judicial office holders up to and including High Court Judges. We have a statutory duty to select solely on merit, while keeping our selection processes open to the widest range of applicants. We launch a new campaign for judicial posts every one to two weeks. These range from high volume campaigns for ‘entry level’ posts, attracting upward of 2,000 applicants, to small campaigns for senior roles, attracting a handful of highly qualified people.

Though located at Clive House, Petty France, London, SW1H 9AJ JAC staff are currently working in a hybrid way with some days in the office and some days working remotely. It will be necessary for the successful postholder to work at the JAC location regularly to support business need.

**The Role**

Are you an experienced manager looking for an exciting new leadership challenge at the heart of a dynamic organisation? We are looking for a Head of Corporate Services (grade 7) to lead a small but essential team responsible for supporting the JAC to deliver its core business.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Corporate Service will lead the JAC’s HR, Finance, Complaints, Health and Safety, and Security and Risk functions, ensuring that the organisation has the right structure, resources and strategy in place to deliver its business plan. Sitting as a key member of the JAC Senior Leadership Team, the postholder will have a highly visible position within the organisation and will play a fundamental role in shaping the organisation’s future strategy, using their communication and influencing skills to ensure that the needs and reputation of the organisation is protected.

**Main responsibilities**
- Lead on the delivery and future development of the JAC’s People Plan, identifying opportunities to support staff wellbeing and engagement, strengthen our workforce planning and skills development, and continuing to embed the JAC’s values-driven culture.
- Maintain an effective day-to-day JAC HR service. This will include management of recruitment, performance management, payroll and other related HR functions for JAC staff and the cadre of fee-paid selection panel members, including allocation to selection exercises.
- Oversight of the JAC’s Learning and Development team, ensuring a comprehensive induction programme and that staff have the relevant knowledge and skills to deliver JAC core business and develop their careers.
- Oversee the successful implementation of improved financial, risk management, procurement, governance and contingency planning.
- Oversight of regular financial reporting including the full annual, quarterly and monthly accounts, and management of invoice process.
- Lead the organisation’s risk management approach including supporting the JAC’s Audit and Risk Committee and leading on JAC internal audit activity.
- Strategic oversight and management of the JAC complaints, freedom of information and litigation processes.
- Act as the JAC’s designed Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) with responsibility for ensuring compliance with data protection responsibilities and the maintenance of security standards and policies.
- Act as the JAC’s designated responsible officer for health and safety and accommodation issues, liaising with the Ministry of Justice to ensure risk assessments are undertaken and the JAC accommodation remains suitable for hybrid working.
- Line management responsibilities of a diverse team of 7 with expertise covering the range of Corporate Services activities
- As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, to act as a role model across the organisation and externally: visibly demonstrating the JAC values and behaviours
