Technical Manager
**Position: Maintenance Administrator**
**Reporting to**: Technical Manager
**Working alongside**: Maintenance team (5 members), Technical Designer, Cleaning Supervisors (2 members)
**Purpose of role**:The purpose of the role holder is an exciting new position at Camera Obscura & World of Illusions. This is an integral, wide-ranging role providing administrative and secretarial support to the Technical Manager, assisting him in the day to day running of our on-site Maintenance Department (comprising in-house Design and Cleaning) in a friendly, efficient, and helpful manner, liaising with other departments as required.

**Hours**: 24hr week. Three days out of seven Monday to Friday, flexible.

**Camera Obscura & World of Illusions, Edinburgh**
The Camera Obscura opened in 1853; our company has been running the attraction since 1977. Unique, interactive and fun, we have five exhibition floors with a variety of exhibits and experiences inspired by science, art, history and optical illusion. We run daily demonstrations of the Victorian Camera Obscura, offer spectacular views from our rooftop terrace and have an on-site gift shop. As a listed building without a lift, access to all floors is by stairs only.
Our attraction appeals to all ages and all nationalities and we aim to deliver an exceptional, five star, world class visitor experience. We are in the top five most visited paid entry attractions in Scotland.
**The Company**
Visitor Centres Ltd owns and operates Camera Obscura & World of Illusions, Landmark Forest Adventure Park and Landmark Press in Carrbridge and Inveraray Jail in Argyll.
**Key Responsibilities**
The post-holder provides high quality administrative and secretarial support to the Technical Manager of Camera Obscura & World of Illusions and, through co-operative teamwork to other colleagues as required.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Assisting the Technical Manager in daily management of communications between the Maintenance department and external suppliers and contractors, Senior Management and other Camera Obscura staff.
- Diary management and organisation of meetings; to include minute-taking and follow-up of actions.
- Ordering, purchasing and invoice management for the Maintenance team, including updating purchase order sheets, liaising with the Cleaning Supervisor and Admin Manager and maintaining pre-set stock levels.
- Creating input into reports and documents being used by the Technical Manager, such as undertaking independent research into suppliers, products and exhibits.
- Creating and improving processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness of work.
- Developing and maintaining office systems, including filing and management of records, in line with the company’s records management policy and best practice.
- Helping the Technical Manager to ensure Health and Safety systems are compliant and up to date.
- Providing support for a variety of projects and initiatives at the request of the Technical Manager or on own initiative.
- Helping maintain the environment of the Maintenance Department through tidy and appropriate working practices.

- Educated to Higher/A-Level standard (or equivalent)
- Relevant experience in administration work
- Articulate, with first rate communication skills, in both written and spoken English, good attention to detail
