As a Materials Planning Lead you will;

  • Be a key player in the Supply Chain
  • Gain exposure to working closely with all departments and project teams, accounts and finance, shipping and transportation, as well as suppliers and customers


CORE FUNCTIONS & OBLIGATIONS

  • OTIF to “promise” – Manage Suppliers to ensure target OTIF is met
  • Work with Operations Team towards achieving OTIF to “Wanted” dates
  • Ensure “on time order placement”
  • Manage Lead Violations
  • Negotiation with production on best solutions for non-availability of parts
  • Escalation of issues
  • Manage the team to achieve departmental goals


CORE DELIVERABLES / OUTPUTS

  • Develop, manage and improve the monitoring and reporting of Material Availability
  • Coach and educate the current Buyers (Material Planners) in best practice for ensuring material availability.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers to ensure OTIF targets
  • Develop the team core competencies
  • Implement systems development to improve team efficiency


WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR

  • An understanding of ERP methodology
  • Ability to communicate and work with the business to ensure solutions are available to meet customer delivery expectations
  • Experience of working with suppliers to deliver a service of value
  • Good understanding of ERP systems and inter dependencies
  • Experience in Materials Planning
  • Good supplier communication skills
  • Good presentation and communication skills
  • Good level of education and/ or experience in materials management
  • Well organised, lateral thinker
  • Ability to influence others


DESIRABLES BUT NOT NESSECITIES

  • Understanding of SIOP
  • Sound understanding of Lean principles essential
  • Understanding of different stocking solutions based on Kraljic and ABC123
  • Experience of working in an engineering/manufacturing environment
  • Competent IT skills, particularly MS Office, ERP, MRP or SAP systems
  • Qualification in Supply Chain Management would be an advantage
