Job Description

Job Title: Buyer

Location: Tadcaster, UK

Reports to: Head of Procurement

Working Hours: Full-time, 5 days a week on site (Monday to Friday, with half day on Fridays finishing at 12:30pm)

Overview:

Elevation Recruitment Group is excited to collaborate with a leading manufacturer in the packaging machinery sector. This position plays a vital role in the effective procurement of essential raw materials required for the production of our machinery, which serves top-tier businesses in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Purchasing and Procurement:

  • Identify and acquire raw materials and components from both local and international vendors.
  • Negotiate agreements, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-efficient purchasing while upholding quality standards.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with key suppliers to guarantee a dependable supply chain.

Supply Chain Management:

  • Analyze market trends, competitor strategies, and supplier landscapes.
  • Recognize and address risks within the supply chain to prevent production disruptions.
  • Collaborate closely with the logistics team to ensure timely material deliveries.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Ensure all procured materials meet company quality standards and adhere to industry regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and evaluations of suppliers to ensure compliance and performance standards are met.

Budget Oversight:

  • Assist in the development and management of the procurement budget.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics to reduce costs and enhance operational effectiveness.

Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Work in partnership with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to comprehend material needs.
  • Provide regular updates to the Head of Procurement regarding purchasing activities and supplier performance.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in a buying or procurement role within manufacturing or related sectors.
  • Experience in sourcing raw materials from both domestic and international suppliers.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
