Location: Tadcaster, UK
Reports to: Head of Procurement
Working Hours: Full-time, 5 days a week on site (Monday to Friday, with half day on Fridays finishing at 12:30pm)
Job Description:
Elevation Recruitment Group are pleased to be partnered with a prominent packaging machinery manufacturer based in Tadcaster, UK. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient procurement of raw materials necessary to produce our packaging machinery, which is supplied to some of the leading businesses in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchasing and Procurement:
- Source and procure raw materials and components from both local and international suppliers (EMEA, APAC).
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality standards.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
Supply Chain Management:
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.
- Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain to avoid disruptions to production.
- Work closely with the logistics team to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure all purchased materials comply with company quality standards and industry regulations.
- Conduct regular supplier audits and evaluations to ensure compliance and performance.
Budget Management:
- Assist in the preparation and management of the procurement budget.
- Track and report on key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
Collaboration and Reporting:
- Work collaboratively with the engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to understand material requirements.
- Report directly to the Head of Procurement with regular updates on purchasing activities and supplier performance.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Proven experience in a buying or procurement role within a manufacturing or non-manufacturing environment.
- Experience in purchasing raw materials from UK and overseas suppliers (EMEA, APAC).
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Other:
- Willingness to work on-site 5 days a week, with a half-day on Fridays.
