Working pattern/flexible working - This is a hybrid working role, therefore your time will primarily be split between working from home and the London Head Office. There will also be a requirement to visit other locations as needed and specifically to attend Trustee meetings, which are normally held in London. Salary range - The salary for this role is dependent on experience with a range starting at £52,800 to £84,300 for an exceptional candidate.Contract type - This is a permanent full-time roleAbout the role

As Assistant Governance Manager you will be a key member of the Trustee Services team who manage the entire day-to-day operation of the John Lewis Partnership Pension Trust, on behalf of the Trustees.

You will support the Pension Governance Manager, and the wider Trustee Services team in respect of all governance activities, including scheme secretarial services in particular formal minute writing, maintenance of trustee policies, and financial reporting.

What will you be doing?

- This role supports the Scheme's Governance Manager, Finance & Risk Manager, and the Investment Manager activities on behalf of the Trustees so they can operate effectively and fulfil their obligations.

- Preparation of papers and meeting packs for all Trustee and Subcommittee Meetings and attendance at these meetings to take formal minutes and follow up actions.

- Frequent monitoring and reporting to the Governance Manager on the outsourced administration services performance, providing assurance that service standards are being met and that any issues are resolved in a timely manner.

- Supporting the Pension Finance & Risk Manager to ensure timely reporting to include quarterly cost reporting, budget preparation, Scheme accounts, cash flow monitoring, and custodian activities.

- Liaising with the Partnership as required on specialist activities to ensure key deliverables (such as Company Secretary requirements, Member Nominated Trustee elections, and audit requests).

- Maintain the Trustee annual business plan, policies, and governance calendars ensuring all workload is effectively planned contributing to an Effective System of Governance for the Scheme.

- Enthusiastic involvement on project work such as developing a communication strategy and increasing member engagement.

Essential skills you'll need:-

- You are able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of regulatory frameworks and statutory requirements for trust based DB and DC pension arrangements.

- You have established a high degree of pensions technical knowledge, especially in the area of governance and secretariat support.

- You are able to influence and communicate with stakeholders at all levels, with and clear and concise written skills.

- You are able to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in a technically complex area.

- You are highly organised, self motivated, and able to work with minimal direction.

- You have obtained or are working towards a recognised professional pensions qualification.
