Client Manager (Energy) – Marsh – Norwich

What you can expect

The Client Executive (CE) retains overarching ownership and responsibilities for both the client relationship and all aspects of placement and servicing; with the Broker liaising with relevant markets and placing business with them. However, the Client Manager (CM) is charged with providing intimate support to both the CE and Broker, and management of the placement process – new business and renewals. This extends from client/intermediary/market on-boarding, through to collection and distribution of premiums, as well as routine servicing of accounts. This will demand an in-depth understanding of CE/Broker requirements, and clients within product lines and/or defined areas, in conjunction with technical knowledge.

As well as technical and administrative support, depending on seniority and experience, the CM may be expected to deal directly, and build relationships with, clients, intermediaries and markets, in order to ensure the timely and accurate processing of placements, and comprehensive servicing. Building effective relationships with processing/fiduciary colleagues (both on and off shore) to ensure the clarity, and the prompt resolution of, queries and payments is crucial. The range of specific tasks and depth of CM involvement will be guided by experience and seniority. The CM role will encompass a range of different grades, dependent upon levels of responsibility and breadth of those tasks.

We will count on you to:

  • In conjunction with CE/Broker, prepare quotes /placements/endorsements and support the obtaining of insurance on appropriate terms, price and with suitable insurers to meet client requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining records of negotiations/communications with client and insurers.
  • Assist in effecting amendments to an existing insurance on appropriate terms and price to meet the client requirements.
  • Be prepared to communicate, present and negotiate details of cover to/with Insurers and/or Clients – either directly or in support of the CE/Broker.
  • Assist in obtaining firm order instruction.
  • Help develop requests for, and monitor progress of, on-boarding/due diligence of clients, intermediaries and markets, as well as routine reactivation ahead of renewals when required, using the appropriate system/process.
  • Assist CEs and brokers in the setting up and management of the placement within broking system.
  • Prepare documentation to support the placing of insurance contracts using the appropriate systems/processes – e.g. preparation of renewal reports and programme documentation, as well as quote and placement slips.
  • Provide clear direction to processing function (TS/CATSPS) through the Work Request Form (WRF).
  • Effectively manage/resolve queries, acting as the bridge between CE/Broker, TS/CATSPS, and clients/markets.
  • Review and check all documentation for technical accuracy, and help ensure client requirements are met.
  • Ensure timely authorisation of documentation, and distribution to markets/client - debit notes, invoices and evidence of cover.
  • Check to ensure all correspondence between Insurer(s) and client is retained on appropriate files, using both electronic and paper systems.
  • In conjunction with CE and Fiduciary, ensure strict credit control.
  • Develop and sustain supportive and productive working relationship with both CE/Broker and TS/CATSPS.
  • Ensure all client documentation is issued in an accurate and timely manner, and support the CE in dealing effectively with all client queries.
  • Help sustain in-year client servicing, through comprehensive routine communications.
  • Provide advice on risk and insurance issues

What you need to have:

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the insurance market and insurance principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Resilience and a 'can do' attitude
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to pick up new systems quickly
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish effective working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Attention to detail.
