Cluster Supply Chain Lead

As a Cluster Supply Chain Lead, in support of a European Cluster of Markets, you will play a strategic role and will be a key member of GSK Europe CSC Leadership Team. The role reports directly into the European Supply Chain Head.

The purpose of this role is to act as a Customer supply chain leader for a cluster of European Markets outside the 5 Tier 1 countries to drive excellence in demand forecasting, warehousing distribution and customer service. You will be responsible for ensuring the requirements relating to product supply are understood and managed appropriately by the central planning, in additional the role will ensure that any supply issues are understood and managed within the market. From a strategic lens the lead will need to be able to strongly drive and execute change, through your team of Customer Chain Managers based in country

The impact of the role is critical to the success of the cluster, you will be required to operate as a key leader and become a valued part of the extended cluster leadership team, partnering with Country General Managers and other Stakeholders on various areas; budget delivery and supply chain performance. The role should develop this external focus, driving interactions with Distribution Partners, particularly in the Logistics space whilst continuing to address future looking topics such as demand sensing and commercial insights gathering.

As the lead for the supply chain functions you will need to display effective leadership to motivate and drive performance through your own team, with the regional and local matrix teams whilst also ensuring alignment to central standards, governance for good supply chain practice with alignment to central processes, usage of common tools & systems (eg: CCC etc), oversight of Quality and Supply Chain compliance within the cluster and execution of strategic initiatives.

Leading a matrix team in the day to day operations as well as longer term initiative delivery is also a key part of the role. Engaging and communicating effectively across direct and indirect reports and stakeholders is expected to ensure tactical and strategic goal delivery. Driving development and having a continuous improvement mindset are paramount both across the team and for self.

The role will additionally lead the Europe Performance Management activities for the Customer Supply Chain, running and facilitating performance meetings directly with the Europe CSC Lead Team. The role will be required to act as a key enabler and act as deputy for the Customer Supply Chain Head when requested. This role is vital to ensure enhanced execution & delivery through strong programme management, prioritisation & governance.

The role works & interacts with teams on high-profile, regional & global projects interfacing cross-functionally and cross business. It is also the touch point between Commercial, Franchise, Services and supporting functions. There will be significant contact with senior leaders across the organisation both in Pharma Supply Chain and in Commercial.

Develop a clear roadmap of all priority transformation projects in CSC and how the team intend to deliver them (scope, budget, timeline and people). Embed the delivery & progress of key transformation initiatives into the established governance and ensure timely interventions and escalations are made.

Due to the regional reach of this role, it will ideally be based in Poland or UK. Other European locations will be considered. Flexible and remote working is available, travel (up to 20%) may be required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Part of extended Regional Leadership Team - integrated into both Customer Supply Chain and Commercial business processes.
  • Provide leadership and line management to direct reports (Team of 5) and matrix teams (internally and externally, including third party). Provide direction and oversight of the activities conducted by the team.
  • Aware of key Cluster risks and opportunities - responsible for designing and delivering supply chain responses to commercial challenges including but not limited to volume/value forecast.
  • Works with Demand Forecasting, Warehousing & Customer service teams & drives capability improvement in alignment with common central standards and Future Ready requirements.
  • Key decision maker at Cluster DRM.
  • Drives projects in market in partnership with commercial - e.g. improvements to DF capability - sensing, MI etc, CMI, EDI etc..
  • Responsible for in-market SC design.
  • Accountable for shared KPIs (OTIF, Daily Sales conformance, Customer Metrics/Feedback).
  • Responsible for driving transformational initiatives across market teams and business- as appropriate.
  • Accountable for the Quality and Supply Chain Compliance oversight of the Cluster
  • Collaborates with other Supply Chain colleagues on providing clear and consistent information and insights.

Why you?

  • BS Degree e.g. Business, Supply Chain, Finance or related discipline. MS Degree preferred.
  • APICS Certifications are preferred.
  • 10 years+ of progressive experience within Supply Chain. At least 6 years of experience in a senior level role including leading teams function.
  • Supply chain understanding - supply planning, demand planning, warehousing or customer service experience essential.
  • Previous global/regional function and experience in major organization are preferred. Pharmaceutical or other regulated industry experiences is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills in both a direct and matrix organisation.
  • Demonstrated effective communications skills both written and oral coupled with the ability to tailor to any one of a wide variety of audiences (including presentation skills).
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholder groups (up to SVP level).
  • Experience of working with commercial sales and marketing teams particularly in a pharma would be advantageous.
  • High levels of personal energy and self-motivator with an ability to energise others.
  • A focus on output, content and delivery.
  • An ability to map out and understand complex highly interdependent issues.
