About the role

The Senior Programme Officer provides essential support to students and academics. Working in a fast-paced environment, the role includes taking responsibility to resolve complex queries and issues, supporting activities such as timetabling and the production of handbooks, using databases and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate student data on progress and achievement, and delivering a high-quality service across the student lifecycle. This particular role sits in the Undergraduate team and will involve supporting programmes across the School. The post holder will be responsible for working with colleagues to plan and coordinate a varied set of activities and will have opportunities to further develop their knowledge of regulations and process and be part of professional networks promoting best practice. As part of the School team, they will be responsible for the supervision of workload and allocation of tasks for a small team of Programme Officers.

This is a full-time post, and you will be offered an indefinite term contract

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. Educated to degree level or equivalent, and substantial operational and administrative experience working on degree Programmes gained in a Higher Education environment.

2. Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to draft documents and correspondence autonomously to a broad range of audiences.

3. Experience in the use of databases and student records systems (such as SITS) to provide reports on information data to a high level of detail and accuracy.

4. Experience of stakeholder management with the ability to engage with tact and diplomacy, while dealing discreetly with confidential or sensitive matters.

5. Able to work under pressure to complete a range of competing priorities with proven time management and organizational skills, coupled with an ability to independently offer solutions and solve problems.

6. Have a methodical and flexible approach to work, with demonstratable numeracy skills and the ability to implement data driven decision making.

7. Experience collaborating effectively within a diverse team, demonstrating a proactive approach, and possessing the capability to work autonomously.

Desirable criteria

1. Experience in the use of virtual learning environments.

2. Possess comprehensive knowledge of higher education systems, processes, policies, procedures, internal and external regulations, legislation, and quality standards.

3. Dedication to fostering equality and diversity in the workplace.
