Capita is on the lookout for a proactive Senior Programme Manager to spearhead the establishment and execution of our significant initiatives. In this crucial position, you will be accountable for ensuring the successful implementation of new capabilities, realizing benefits, and overseeing programme completion. You will also create strong governance frameworks and assume delegated authority from the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) for guiding the programme's direction.

This role allows for remote work, with regular travel to key locations required.

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Secure the necessary funding to initiate and sustain the programme, ensuring that deployment activities lead to the anticipated benefits.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the programme, including advancing the programme from initiation and managing, controlling, and concluding the programme.
  • Provide decisive leadership and direction throughout the programme's lifecycle, acting as the primary representative for the SRO to guarantee the successful delivery of new capabilities.
  • Design and plan the programme while actively monitoring its overall progress, addressing challenges, and implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Establish the governance framework for the programme and ensure that appropriate assurance mechanisms are in place. Implement agreed-upon recommendations to enhance delivery confidence.
  • Maintain the viability of the business case and ensure the programme aligns with Capita's strategic objectives.
  • Manage the programme's financial resources, tracking expenditures and benefits as the programme evolves.
  • Ensure that the outputs or services delivered from the projects meet programme specifications in accordance with the programme blueprint and project documentation, while adhering to quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, including Executive Officers, while inspiring and motivating delivery teams across Capita.
  • Experience in navigating complex, large-scale organizational settings, with a background in operational management, service delivery, outsourcing, or consulting.
  • Extensive experience in leading technical projects or workstreams.
  • Proven ability to influence senior colleagues, possessing the emotional intelligence to complement the necessary intellectual skills for consistent application of functional standards, while being sensitive to the challenges faced by divisions in delivering programmes and projects effectively.
  • Familiarity with contemporary solution architecture methodologies.
  • Knowledge of prevalent commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions, including ERP systems, document and content management solutions, customer and supplier relationship management systems, workforce management solutions, business process management solutions, e-payment solutions, case management solutions, and business intelligence platforms.
  • Results-oriented with the capacity to make tactical decisions within their area of authority to ensure that the overall project objectives (and thus the programme's goals) are fully achieved.
  • Understanding of Scrum and Agile methodologies.
  • Possession of industry-recognized qualifications and standards (such as PRINCE2, MSP, MoP, TOGAF, ITIL, COBiT, SAFe) is advantageous.
