Due to the expansion of our service, we have 2 permanent openings for Senior Clinical Scientists in Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation safety at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHNT). We are seeking self-motivated physicists with experience in Quality Assurance, optimisation, and radiation safety to join our Radiological Sciences Unit.



The successful candidates will become part of a dynamic team delivering scientific and technical support as well as radiation safety services. They will play a key role in the procurement, acceptance, commissioning, and routine quality assurance of x-ray diagnostic equipment.



Candidates working towards gaining Medical Physics Expert (MPE) status are encouraged to apply, as training and support are provided.



Main duties of the job:
  • Act as Radiological Physicist for x-ray imaging modalities.
  • Plan and provide QA, performance assessment, and radiation protection for diagnostic x-ray equipment.
  • Fulfill the role of Medical Physics Expert for the Trust and key customers.
  • Carry out Critical Examination, Acceptance, and Commissioning testing of x-ray systems.
  • Provide specialised x-ray systems support and troubleshooting service.
  • Offer expertise in scientific, computing, and software applications.

Person Specification Education / Professional Qualifications:
  • Honours degree in a relevant subject.
  • MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent.
  • NHS STP training in medical physics or equivalent.
  • Recognition as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE).

Experience:
  • Proven competence to act as a Medical Physics Expert under IRMER.
  • Experience managing staff and commissioning X-ray Radiological equipment.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Specialist knowledge of relevant legislation and national standards.
  • Ability to work independently and provide specialist advice.
  • Good communication and computer skills.
