Job Description:

As a Lighting Designer reporting to the Director of Product Development & Technical, you will play a crucial role in creating innovative lighting solutions for various applications. Your expertise in lighting design software, technical skills, and creative flair will contribute to our company’s success.


Key Responsibilities:


Lighting Design:

Analyse and interpret the design brief and produce lighting solutions designed to meet the requirements specified

Identify significant differences between the specifications provided and explain the reasons for proposed alternatives

Develop lighting schemes for commercial, industrial, and educational installations.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to create functional and aesthetically pleasing lighting designs

Consult appropriate legislation and other documents prior to commencing the design, the appropriate legislative compliance required for the calculated design

Utilise Relux lighting design software proficiently, with experience in Dialux as an advantage.

Upon completion of internally designed projects or receipt of externally designed projects, verify that the design meets the specification provided at the outset and verify that the requirements of customers and clients and that all content is calculated correctly in the format requested

Forward the completed package back to the customer including such material as the lighting design, a lighting legend of products and lighting controls included, a computer aided design, any technical details requested, any legislative information in support of the design, any lighting energy calculations and payback periods, etc.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in using Revit, BIM, Photoshop, CAD, and IES files for lighting design

In depth knowledge of lighting equipment, electrical systems, and safety protocols

Ability to analyse and interpret technical specifications

Design Aesthetics:

Demonstrate a keen eye for design, colour, and composition

Balance functionality with visual appeal in lighting solutions

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate lighting designs seamlessly.

Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and suppliers.


Creative Thinking:

Innovate and propose unique lighting concepts.

Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Time Management:

Efficiently manage project timelines and meet deadlines

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in designing lighting schemes.
  • Qualification in lighting design, architecture, interior design, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing successful lighting projects.
  • Technical knowledge of lighting systems and software tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
