Role Summary

We are looking to recruit a permanent full time Band 7 Clinical Scientist, specialising in Nuclear Medicine Physics. This post sits within the SEND (South, East and North Devon) Network, and is based at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Exeter. Nuclear Medicine Physics (NMP) sits within the Clinical Radiation Physics (CRP) team which is currently is made of up Physicists / Technologists, plus trainees on both the practitioner and scientific training schemes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who can work autonomously but also as part of a wider team. Suitable candidates will preferably have attained HCPC registration, but consideration will be given to the right candidate for appointment at a lower grade and supported with training towards HCPC registration.

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has a developing relationship with the University of Exeter for both Medical Physics services and academic partnership.

Devon itself is a fantastic place to live boasting some of the best beaches and countryside the UK has to offer including 2 National Parks as well as the English Riviera and the vibrant city of Exeter. Exeter is well served by rail, road and air links and have the advantage of easy access to the countryside and coasts of Devon and Cornwall. The post holder will provide scientific support to Nuclear Medicine, Radionuclide Therapy, the University of Exeter’s PET-CT service and other regional services; playing a key role in service maintenance and development.

Provide highly specialised advice to colleagues, external service users, patients and carers. The department actively encourages staff training and development and is an accredited training centre for the NSHCS training scheme for the STP scheme as well as the HSST scheme. The department employs Clinical Technologist apprentices. All staff are involved in providing training and the supervision of trainees. Staff are also involved in the continued development and improvement of the service and are encouraged to challenge and question the way things are done with the aim of providing a service which can be described as “best in class”.
