Role Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced, enthusiastic, highly motivated and resourceful Bioinformaticians to join a rapidly-expanding, friendly team. The roles are focused on delivery of bioinformatics services through cloud infrastructure for high quality clinical genomic testing. The ongoing development of a rapid whole genome service offers ample opportunity for excellence and innovation to deliver a pioneering service to patients. The successful candidates will have proven experience of working with genomic data gained either in a clinical diagnostic or research setting. They will be committed to patient-centred provision of the highest quality of bioinformatic data analysis, manipulation and management to ensure that patient results are delivered in a safe, efficient and innovative way. The post-holders will have excellent communication skills to ensure effective team-working and training of clinical, scientific and technical grades of staff and students.

The Genomic Laboratory at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is at the forefront of NHS Genomic Medicine, providing state-of-the-art diagnostic testing that utilises specialist gene panel, exome and genome analyses to make diagnoses for the benefit of families with rare diseases across the UK and beyond. The Exeter and Bristol Genetics/Genomics Laboratories are working in partnership as the South West Genomic Laboratory Hub, with the Exeter Laboratory focused on specialist endocrine services, exome analysis and a new rapid whole genome service. Collaboration and translation of research findings to diagnostic services is facilitated by sharing purpose-built accommodation with the University of Exeter Medical School Genomics teams. Working hours per week

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 4-5 rates, inclusive of a pay award implemented from October 4. If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 4 or your start date, whichever is later. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 3-4 pay bandings (Pay scales for 3/ | NHS Employers).
