About the Role

The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Advanced Biomedical Support Worker to join our Clinical Microbiology department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in assisting Biomedical Scientists in the investigation of patient samples, ensuring the efficient processing of specimens, and maintaining laboratory equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Biomedical Scientists in the investigation of patient samples, including checking sample integrity and processing clinical specimens for Bacteriological culture.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in Bacteriology and Molecular departments, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Receive and process specimens, booking them onto the laboratory computer system and maintaining accurate records.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to telephone queries and addressing laboratory housekeeping duties.
  • Work flexibly across seven days, including Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays, on a rotational basis.

To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a high degree of self-motivation, and a strong attention to detail. You will also have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment, prioritizing tasks and managing your time efficiently.
