Advanced Biomedical Support Worker

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Advanced Biomedical Support Worker to join our Clinical Microbiology team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a vital role in assisting Biomedical Scientists in the investigation of patient samples, ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Biomedical Scientists in the investigation of patient samples, including checking sample integrity and processing clinical specimens for bacteriological culture.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in bacteriology and molecular departments, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy.
- Receive and process specimens, booking them onto the laboratory computer system and ensuring accurate data entry.
- Provide excellent customer service, responding to telephone queries and addressing any concerns or issues in a professional and courteous manner.
- Contribute to laboratory housekeeping duties, maintaining a clean and organized workspace to ensure efficient workflow and compliance with regulatory standards.
This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work a rotational shift pattern, including Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays. The laboratory operates 24/7, with core hours from 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday.
Person SpecificationWe are looking for an individual with excellent interpersonal skills, a high degree of self-motivation, and a strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
