Job Summary

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Biomedical Support Specialist to join our Clinical Microbiology department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing a high-quality Microbiology Service to our patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist Biomedical Scientists in the investigation of patient samples, rotating throughout the laboratory to ensure a comprehensive understanding of our processes.
  • Check sample integrity prior to analysis, process clinical specimens for Bacteriological culture, and operate and maintain laboratory equipment in Bacteriology and Molecular departments.
  • Receive and book specimens onto the laboratory computer system, answer telephone queries, and perform laboratory housekeeping duties.
  • Work on a rotational basis, including Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays, to ensure a 24/7 service.
Working Pattern

Our laboratory operates from 08:00 to 18:00, with core hours from 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday. Occasional early shifts and late shifts may be required. Saturdays and Sundays are worked on a rotational basis, with Bank Holidays also included.
