We have an exciting opportunity for a Support Manager role within Birmingham and Solihull System Coordination Centre (SCC), a team dedicated to delivering high quality patient care, effectively managing risk and tackling heath inequalities across the system.
As the SCC Support Manager, you will be responsible for helping to identify, resolve and facilitate on issues that impact UEC output. You will undertake a range of tasks that ensure that efficient and effective pathways are created and maintained in a range of areas, such as patient flow, transfer of patient care, escalation management and other operational issues. The SCC Support Manager will support the SCC Manager in ensuring direction and guidance is clear and communicated to all key stakeholders
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing system operational support and resilience across BSOL on a day-to-day basis, including:
o Monitoring key operational, clinical and quality metrics via a range of dashboards to swifty identify deterioration in UEC performance across the system and escalate where required
o Ensuring system assurance is established through clear actions and pre-set targets
o Ensuring that patient safety and wellbeing is being considered at all times of increased system pressure
o Support in the identification of opportunities for service developments and innovations

Chair on daily system calls, challenging partners, gaining assurance and clarifying actions as required to improve or maintain flow Engage and liaise with internal and external stakeholders in order to support the delivery of day-to-day activities, and providing a first point of contact for all enquiries, to manage system flow and escalation and ensure completion of appropriate reporting Daily use of performance monitoring tools and dashboards, to monitor system performance, identify areas of risk and engage with system partners as required to address areas of risk in a proactive manner and use judgement to escalate risks and convene escalation meetings when necessary Support the identification and sharing of best practice as well as the day-to-day coordination of information flow through established dashboards, frameworks and protocols Leading on the daily operational reporting requirements, preparing data and reports to ensure they show an accurate and aligned picture of performance and risk across the region, systems, and providers, and following systems and processes in place to coordinate and manage returns to regional and national teams as well as the wider system. Deputise day-to-day tasks as required to ensure service delivery and the maintaining of system flow Attend daily NHSE regional calls to provide assurance on the actions being taken to manage risk effectively across the system Supporting the planning for evening, overnight, out of hours and holiday actions/plans to maintain system flow Drafting reports summarising status on issues, impacts, aspiring outcomes and providing progress reports as required Identify areas for improvement and liaise with senior managers to recommend inclusion in rapid cycles of improvement and projects Support the maintenance of clearly defined action cards in relation to OPEL and REAP levels, and major/critical incidents, and propose changes to own function, making recommendations for required changes to appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) / escalation plans and policies. Maintain constructive working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders within and beyond the ICS, including primary, community and secondary care providers; voluntary and third sector Providers and NHSE&I Operate effectively in a flexible and demanding environment and proactively engage with ICS system partners, clinicians and contractors working on a variety of topics. Develop and implement data collection systems that will provide accurate and timely data. Present information and issues, including highly complex issues, to a wide range of ICS partners and external stakeholders. Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive and contentious information, presenting information, to a wide range of stakeholders in a formal setting. Have the ability to deal with resulting potentially challenging/antagonistic situations. Liaise with the Communications and Engagement teams on public relations and marketing activities. Link with managers and members of other functions, to address inter-dependencies and ensure alignment IT specialists Apply a structured change management approach and methodology for the impact of any change. Qualifications & Skills
Essential
Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience of supporting project/ programme delivery Prince 2, Agile, Managing Successful Projects or similar qualification or relevant experience Highlight difficult and controversial issues including performance and change to senior managers Negotiate with ICS partners and Providers on difficult and controversial issues, and present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups
