An opportunity has arisen for a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Nurse to work within the Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service based in Inverness Community.

You will work within the Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service but will have close links with colleagues within the wider multidisciplinary team including GP Practices, Mental Health Services and other Drug and Alcohol Teams across the Inner Moray Firth area. You should possess sound clinical knowledge, be able to demonstrate a wide range of clinical skills – including the ability to offer interventions, harm reduction advice and deliver safe, effective care to a diverse client population. You will be required to carry out assessments, to develop and implement treatment plans. You will be expected to offer supervision and support to junior staff within the service.

The post requires you to work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team and as an autonomous practitioner. You should possess good interpersonal skills, a commitment to joint working and have specialised knowledge of drug and alcohol dependence.

The preferred candidate will already be qualified and registered with the NMC as a NON Medical Prescriber or be willing to undertake the training within the first 6-12 months of appointment to this post.

Applicants should be a Registered Mental Health Nurse and have a minimum of 3 years post registration experience as well as a minimum of 1 year’s experience of working in the field of Drug and Alcohol. Experience of working in a community setting is preferred. A full current driving licence and use of car for work purposes is essential.
