NHS Highland Cancer Services is seeking to appoint two Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) to enhance our innovative acute oncology and haematology service.
Role Overview: The Acute Oncology service is a collaborative, multi-disciplinary initiative that necessitates effective cooperation across various healthcare sectors and specialties. This dynamic field integrates expertise from oncology, malignant haematology, emergency medicine, acute care, and palliative services to deliver comprehensive support for patients facing oncological crises. These positions promise to be both challenging and fulfilling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Management: Each ANP will manage a defined portfolio, tailored during the appointment process. Non-clinical hours will be allocated to facilitate the attainment of essential performance metrics associated with these portfolios.
Education and Training: The role includes the provision of continuous educational programs aimed at enhancing the skills of both generalist and specialist personnel, thereby improving care standards for critically ill cancer patients across NHS Highland.
Leadership Development: The ANPs will contribute to the evolution of acute oncology and haematology services in collaboration with the Cancer Nurse Consultant, focusing on the establishment of clinical pathways, protocols, and guidelines.
Research and Quality Improvement: Both positions will involve conducting audits, research initiatives, and quality enhancement projects.
If you are a dedicated ANP or Cancer Nurse with significant clinical experience, we encourage you to consider this opportunity. Candidates should be prepared for additional learning and development, including a commitment to pursue further academic qualifications at the master's level.
Support and Development: Successful candidates will receive guidance from ANP Leads and support from the Cancer Nurse Consultant and an ANP Practice Development Nurse. An individualized personal development plan will be created to address educational and competency requirements for the role.
Qualifications: Applicants must have completed an NHS Highland approved advanced clinical assessment and history taking module at the degree level and hold registration with the NMC as a non-medical prescriber (V300).
Work Schedule: Both full-time and part-time positions are available on a permanent basis, with flexibility to work Monday to Friday.
Diversity Commitment: NHS Scotland is dedicated to promoting equality and diversity within our workforce, aiming for a representative workforce where every employee feels valued and empowered to perform at their best.
