Inverness, Highland, United Kingdom NHS Highland Full time

NHS Highland Cancer Services is seeking to appoint two Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) to enhance our newly established acute oncology and haematology service.

Role Overview: The Acute Oncology service is a collaborative, multi-disciplinary initiative that necessitates effective cooperation across various healthcare sectors and clinical specialties. This dynamic and developing field integrates aspects of oncology, malignant haematology, emergency medicine, acute care, and palliative support to deliver comprehensive services for patients facing oncological crises. The positions offer challenging, engaging, and fulfilling opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Management: Each ANP will manage a designated portfolio, which will be established upon appointment. Non-clinical hours will be allocated to facilitate the achievement of key performance indicators associated with the following areas:
  • Education: Deliver ongoing educational programs aimed at enhancing the skills of both generalist and specialist staff to elevate care standards for acutely ill cancer patients across NHS Highland.
  • Leadership: Collaborate with the Cancer Nurse Consultant to advance acute oncology and haematology services throughout Highland, including the development of clinical pathways, protocols, and guidelines.

Both positions will involve participation in audit, research, and quality enhancement initiatives.

Candidate Profile: We invite applications from dedicated ANPs or Cancer Nurses with substantial experience and clinical proficiency. Successful candidates should be prepared for additional learning and development, including a commitment to further academic study at the master's level.

Successful applicants will receive guidance from ANP Leads and support from the Cancer Nurse Consultant and an ANP Practice Development Nurse. An individualized supportive personal development plan will be provided to address educational and competency requirements for the role.

Qualifications: Candidates must have completed an NHS Highland-approved advanced clinical assessment and history-taking module at the degree level and be registered with the NMC as a non-medical prescriber (V300).

Work Schedule: Both full-time and part-time positions are available on a permanent basis, with flexibility to work Monday to Friday.

Diversity Commitment: NHS Scotland is dedicated to promoting equality and diversity within our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. We aim for our workforce to be truly representative, ensuring that every employee feels valued and empowered to perform at their best.
