Job summary

We are looking to recruit Trainee Coders to join our team at an exciting time where the Trust is taking its first step in becoming a digital hospital and so working towards achieving a fully electronic digital record.

We are seeking applicants with a background, as well as an interest and enthusiasm, in anatomy and physiology, are logical and have a willingness to learn an absorb complex information. Although not essential ideally you will understand pressures and demands of working in an acute Trust, have experience of using multiple and wide-ranging Trust data collection systems and recognise the importance of accurate data input and attention to detail.

We can provide a fully supported training pathway through both formal classroom-based training and on the job learning, so the successful candidate will be contributing to achieving the departmental monthly deadlines from the start. Proficiency in coding must be demonstrated and progression through the bands is an expectation, being a Band 4 once internally trained and Band 5 once having achieved the National Clinical Coding Qualification. A suitable candidate is someone who:

Has a good knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology Understands importance of attention to detail Is self-motivated to learn and develop own coding knowledge

Job responsibilities
