**Job overview**:
We are delighted to be recruiting CAP trainees to work in our award winning countywide Crisis Assessment & Intensive Support Team (CAIST) as part of the wider Child, Family & Young Persons Service. The service consists of a multi-disciplinary team that provides emergency assessment & brief response as well as intensive home-based treatment support to children & young people (0-18) across Norfolk & Waveney who present in a mental health crisis.
This new work-based training role will increase diversity in our psychology workforce & provide an opportunity for psychology graduates to deliver patient facing care whilst developing their career in the NHS.
The CAP trainee role is a degree level apprenticeship which is a job with academic training to develop new knowledge & skills, gaining the qualification and practical experience for your long-term career path.
**Main duties of the job**:
Trainees will study for a Masters qualification at the partner academic training provider. The 180 credit Masters programme will conclude with an End Point Assessment which will be completed within the 18 months. The trainee is expected to have their clinical practise observed regularly during the academic programme.
You will be supervised by clinical psychologists & work alongside a wider multi-professional team including Nursing, Occupational, Arts & Speech & Language Therapists, Paediatrics, Mental Health Practitioners & Assistant Psychologists. On qualification, CAPs will move to one of 3 band 6 roles; one in the core CAIST team, one with primary focus on our 16-18 yr old population & one which we are planning to embed within a new crisis day & residential service, specifically for children & young people with both mental health & social care needs, enabling them to have a short stay in a safe & supportive environment where assessment & intervention planning can take place, as well as the possibility of a set no. of nights of planned respite per year.

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
The Apprenticeship post involves undertaking a Master's level course at the University of East Anglia. This is typically a blended course with approximately 75% of sessions delivered online and the remainder delivered in person at UEA. Attendance at all UEA teaching days is compulsory, and annual leave cannot be booked for UEA teaching days. Accepting a place on the CAPS course had implications for the funding of future NHSE courses.
The apprenticeship is at band 5, increasing to band 6 upon successful qualification.
