Job summary

The Director of Nursing, working very closely with the Group Chief Executive and Group Chair, will provide leadership of Nurses and Midwives to support the delivery of outstanding patient care and high quality outcomes through the adoption of the best professional standards of Lincolnshire Community Health Services Trust and United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust (the Group).

Acting as subject matter expert the post holder will foster a culture within the nursing, community which values continuing professional development and empowers staff to achieve excellence in the delivery of patient care within the Trust, through innovation and the adaption of the Trust values.

As a subject matter expert, the post holder is the principal advisor to the Group Board, Group executive leadership team, and the organisation in all aspects of professional nursing.

Main duties of the job

The Director of Nursing will have responsibilities covering:

Professional leadership Quality & Safety Operational performance Education, Training & Research Risk Management

The Director of Nursing has responsibility for the following functions:

Nursing leadership and standards of care and role development Quality Impact Assessments Clinical Audit Clinical governance processes around harm reviews Complaints PALS Patient and public involvement Patient experience Volunteers Chaplaincy and bereavement service CQC relationship management.

Job responsibilities

The key responsibilities for the role are:-

Deliver collective and collaborative leadership. Provide professional leadership to the Nursing, Professional staff groups, fostering a culture which values continuing professional development and empowers them to achieve excellence in the delivery of patient care. Contribute fully to the development of the Lincolnshire Healthcare system. Provide leadership and management to ensure delivery of outstanding patient care, helping to create a culture of quality and safety excellence, with a zero tolerance of the acceptance of poor quality. Work collaboratively with the deputy Medical Director to embed good clinical governance across the Trust. Work in partnership with HEE and others to explore the potential of new roles and establish clear development pathways for existing roles. Provide professional advice to the Sub Board committees on all matters relating to Nursing, assuring the Sub-Board through the use of performance indicators on the standards of practice

Successful management of change in a distressed organisation and/or system Experience at Director of Nursing/Chief Nurse level in an NHS acute trust or other large complex multi-professional organisation
