Community Safety Analyst

Lincolnshire, United Kingdom Lincolnshire County Council Full time

Unlock Insights, Shape Safety

As an Analyst or Analyst Trainee, you’ll explore a complex and interconnected web of community safety issues, including crime, antisocial behavior, reoffending, substance misuse, and domestic abuse.

You’ll play a pivotal role within multi-agency partnerships and service commissioning, using evidence to drive decisions. Often, you’ll be the first person to analyse data in depth, experimenting with new technologies and data visualizations to elevate your work.

But that’s not all—over time, you’ll become an expert, an authority on trends and patterns within community safety, and an influential voice in decision-making.

About you

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be a sharp, critical thinker, somebody who can navigate intricate details while discerning their significance within the context of your work. Somebody who can see strategic patterns and trends and then communicate them in creative and engaging ways to diverse audiences from a range of professional backgrounds.

Novelty will not faze you and you will be able to work autonomously without detailed instructions. You’ll be comfortable working with Excel to analyse your data, and prepared to take your analysis into other packages when it is appropriate to do so. Your enthusiasm for continuous learning and your personal leadership skills will drive you through long projects and your professional development.

With confidence, you’ll challenge norms, question assumptions, and always back your insights with evidence. You’ll be naturally curious and keen to explore data and insights from all angles before making conclusions and recommendations.

Supporting information

The team successfully operates on a mixture of home and office-based working, embracing a healthy work/life balance. The team’s nominal work location is Myle Cross Centre on Macaulay Drive in the historic city of Lincoln.

We are providing a trainee route into the team. This would be offered as a full-time fixed term position to allow sufficient time to successfully complete a personal development plan. Trainees would then be required to apply for a Community Safety Analyst position on successful completion of their training. Please specify in your application which position you are applying for.

Along with a competitive salary we are offering;

  • A Contributory pension
  • Comprehensive benefits package including excellent discount schemes and cycle to work
  • Flexible working policies
  • Career progression opportunities
  • A generous annual leave entitlement plus the option to buy more

Further details can be found in our rewards and benefits brochure

PLEASE NOTE: It is imperative that your covering letter/personal statement clearly states why you have applied, how you meet the essential and desirable criteria for the role as set out in the Job Description (attached on LCC jobs Site) and what you feel you can bring to this role, the team and the wider County Council.

PLEASE NOTE: that both posts will be subject to satisfactory Police Vetting Checks (NPPV Level 2). This will involve checks on your personal background and circumstances, and on close family and associates.

Closing date for applications: 3 rd July (23:59hrs)

We anticipate interviews will take place week commencing 15 th July.

A Smarter Working Employer

We have embraced new ways of working and hybrid working will be a feature of this role. You will be given a nominated contractual work base and you will be required to commute to this work base when necessary.  Working arrangements regarding hybrid working will be discussed as part of the appointment process.

Our technology platform and equipment is very good enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We require that you have in place good connectivity, and we will discuss during the recruitment process if support with this is needed.

Please be advised that this position may be subject to a criminal record check.

All candidates are advised to read the attached job information pack prior to making an application.

On occasion we receive significantly more applications than expected for some vacancies and under such circumstances we reserve the right to bring forward the closing date of the advertisement. We therefore strongly advise you to apply for the role promptly to avoid disappointment should the closing date be brought forward.

We operate a talent pool scheme whereby candidates who are not successful on this occasion may be considered for a period of up to 3 months for equal positions.
