Job Purpose

The Senior Manager, Business Development will be responsible for developing key new business & fostering existing business relationships with distribution, commercial & brand partners to drive revenue, subscribers and awareness for BritBox.


Working closely with our legal, commercial, delivery and product teams regularly, the Senior Manager will help in the ideation, analysis, business case and launch execution of new and expanded streams of revenue for BritBox.


This role is a crucial component of ensuring BritBox meets its profit, EBITDA and subscriber goals globally, and will report to the VP, Global Business Development within the Business Development team.


Key Responsibilities

New business:

  • Identify opportunities to maximize growth with new & existing partners and prepare business cases to present to senior leadership team.
  • Prospect & assess new business opportunities with existing partners and on BritBox DTC (O&O) service, including new consumer value propositions & products.
  • Spearhead BritBox’s integration across larger BBCS initiatives including new bundle products, .com, audio, merchandise, and other areas.
  • Support Vice President, Global Business Development on conceptualizing, prospecting and negotiating new business via distribution partners, commercial & branding partnerships, and other large-scale initiatives.


Existing business:

  • Lead strategic and contractual account management with all the Smart TV partners
  • Collaborate with Insights & Analytics & Partnerships teams to assess account performance across Acquisition, Retention, Engagement and Churn metrics.
  • Maintain regular audit of BritBox’s terms, contract expiration dates and key deliverables across distribution channels & partners.
  • Support VP, Business Development and Chief Commercial Officer in preparing for contract renewal negotiations.
  • Identifying and actioning opportunities to improve efficiencies and ways of working across BritBox’s distribution and partnerships portfolio.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree is desired but not essential. Previous entertainment or streaming video experience preferred.
  • Operating at a manager level of experience in digital media, marketing, and/or distribution.
  • Solid understanding of the current digital distribution landscape and key partnerships.
  • Knowledge of deal structures, negotiation techniques and strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Motivated team player, proactive, and collaborative.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully, verbally and in writing with department heads, managers, coworkers and partners to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, managing several projects simultaneously and setting priorities with minimal supervision.
