Hanwha Group operates a diverse portfolio of businesses ranging from Solar/renewable energy, Defense to Aerospace. With the recent acquisition of Hanwha Ocean shipyard (previously Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering), we’re posed to leverage its platform and integrate its capabilities with other key businesses within Hanwha – including our recently formed ship owning business; Hanwha Shipping, which will own a range of vessel types that have been designed by and constructed at Hanwha Ocean, primarily to warehouse first mover deployment risk of new shiptypes and technologies, thus accelerating their deployment to Hanwha customers.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to play a pivotal role in our journey, especially focusing in the Europe/Africa region. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in client relationship management, market research analysis, business development, communication and reporting, and team development. This role will involve domestic and international travel occasionally, requiring adaptability to multi-cultural environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the head of Hanwha Ocean Europe in strategic business development and senior level stakeholder engagement
- Develop customer relationship and business development capability in the Hanwha Ocean Europe team to enable them to deliver on company goals
- Engage with senior level ship owners, ship charterers, operators and maritime regulators to develop new business opportunities, both for traditional shipbuilding and new business areas
- Drive commercial focus for partnership and business generation for Hanwha Ocean with other Hanwha affiliates such as Hanwha Shipping, Hanwha Power Systems and Hanwha Engine. Work to present one face to market and develop joined up approaches to customer interactions where appropriate
- Collaborate with technology teams for early identification of new developments in shipping, commercially focused technology roadmaps, and work with industry partners on near and long term strategic measures for implementation
- Promote our company’s interests and expand our presence globally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Proven experience in a similar role within shipping, the energy sector, oil & gas, and/or renewable energy business
- Proven experience at building and enhancing senior level relationships
- Competence in decision-marking to evaluate a business situation such as client’s needs, global trends, and status/aim of the company (strategic thinking, translation of customer needs to value propositions etc)
- Strong understanding of international business practices and cultural nuances
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
Work Authorization:
The ideal candidate for this role will have authorization to work in the UK prior to joining Hanwha. This role will not sponsor or help with the sponsorship for work authorization in the UK.
