Purpose of the Role
Join the Electrical Engineering – Exterior Lighting team as the Technical Manager – Exterior Lighting Functions where you'll take the lead driving the end to end development for innovative exterior lighting. This role will involve international travel as and when required to support driving innovation and future lighting projects. Reporting into the Functional Manager – Exterior Lighting your main responsibilities include;

  • Lead on the function development, in collaboration with user experience experts to define the customer needs and expectations, working cross functionally with other areas of the business
  • Responsibility for planning and managing projects throughout complete project development cycle
  • Developing and maintaining specialist lighting knowledge and driving innovation
  • Leading innovation and technical expertise across the team for future lighting technologies

About the Team
This role is working within the Exterior Lighting Team, the team goal and tasks are to create and develop for the future world class lighting systems and products. The team works cross functionally across the whole business, including Production, Project, Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Body & Trim, Electrical Engineering and Group.

About you – Skills and Experience

  • Experience of automotive lighting functions and systems
  • Understanding of vehicle electrical architectures and software structures
  • Knowledge of future industry trends and technologies
  • Knowledge of digital systems like mobile devices, apps and clouds
  • Knowledge of user experience and user interface and the ability to apply them
  • Understanding of automotive lighting regulations and directives
  • Understanding of functional safety, cyber security and data protection requirements
  • An Engineering degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • German language skills would be advantageous
