At The Vic Café, located in the heart of St Andrews, we're all about bringing good-humoured, traditional fun with a modern twist to the town. Catering to students, golfers, and locals alike, we pride ourselves on creating a relaxed atmosphere bursting with character. Whether it's enjoying our contemporary yet traditional cocktails, indulging in craft beers, or exploring our selection of small-batch production gins, there's something for everyone.

We're excited to introduce a brand-new food concept called Ketchup, and we're looking for someone with food experience to help bring this innovative idea to life. As part of this role, youll be leading a dynamic team of about 30 people, ensuring smooth operations and a seamless guest experience.

As the only venue in St Andrews open until 3 a.m., we're committed to making sure everyone has a great time, effortlessly transitioning our guests from day into night. Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team of staff to ensure a consistently high standard of service.
  • Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations, including staffing, inventory management, and customer service.
  • Financial Management: Manage budgets, control costs, and drive profitability through effective revenue management and expense control.
  • Customer Experience: Ensure an outstanding customer experience by maintaining high service standards, addressing customer feedback, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Sales & Marketing: Develop and implement strategies to drive footfall and revenue, including promotions, events, and partnerships with local businesses.
  • Compliance: Ensure that the venue operates in compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, licensing laws, and company policies.
  • Supplier Relations: Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure the best quality products at competitive prices.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships within the St Andrews community, including with the university, local businesses, and residents.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a General Manager or in a senior management role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a bar, restaurant, or mixed-use venue.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team effectively.
  • Business Acumen: A solid understanding of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
  • Customer Focus: A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and the ability to resolve issues swiftly and effectively.
  • Marketing Skills: Experience in creating and executing successful marketing campaigns and events to drive business.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle the diverse challenges of managing a busy venue.
  • Local Knowledge: Familiarity with St Andrews and its unique demographic is a plus.
