The Bothy is a quintessential Scottish bolthole, tucked away from the throng of the busy thoroughfares of St Andrews and nestled in a cosy corner of Church Square.

With a menu driven by provenance and passion, you can always expect to find seasonal Scottish produce at the heart of our dishes. No dinner is complete without a dram, so you can also expect to find a specially selected drinks menu, packed full of Scottish whisky, gins, locally distilled spirits and more.

When the Scottish sun graces us with her presence, The Bothhy External Garden is our quiet and quaint outdoor space. It's the perfect spot for a light lunch or a refreshing G&T whilst watching the world go by.

We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Head Chef to join our culinary team at The Bothy St Andrews. This role is ideal for an aspiring creative Sous Chef or Chef de Partie looking to take the next step in their career. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic individual with a deep appreciation for using the best, freshest, seasonal, and local ingredients to create exceptional dishes. This is a unique opportunity to lead a dynamic kitchen team in a vibrant and fast-paced restaurant environment.

The Boring Bits (But You Need Them to Lead the Kitchen)

  • Experience: Overall responsibility for managing all aspects of the kitchen environment.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Compliance: knowledge of legislation, food production, stock control and staff training.
  • Menus: Be involved with menu compilation.
  • Cost Control: Having sole responsibility for kitchen costs, you will also be responsible for ensuring that the menu produced generates the required Gross Profit margin for the business.
  • Customer Service Skills: A friendly, positive attitude with a passion for providing excellent service.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure great attention to detail for the menu specs provided.
  • Communication Skills: You will have strong people and operational management skills and have experience in the industry at a supervisory level.
  • Progression: You will excel in your Chef profession and will be looking to progress within a dynamic company that can help you take the next step on the career ladder.
  • Achievements: You take pride in yourself, your work, and your wider team.
