Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Bristol / Roslin, is currently looking to recruit a Business Support Officer on a part time basis (2 days a week) for a fixed term up to 31st March 2025 on a rate of £150-£175/day (Inside IR35). This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.


Responsibilities:


- Asset and Information Management: Ensure that group systems, processes and tools are fully documented/populated and kept up to date and comply with organisational policy. Includes setting up and maintaining asset registers, archiving research project datasets, establishing and maintaining SERG project, output and impact databases, and help with electronic filing.

- Project Support: Support the Science Group Lead with team budgeting and staffing tasks. Support SERG’s compliance with Finance and Procurement team needs including the co-ordinated provision of project budget information, procurement information, and ensuring invoices are actioned.

- Communications: Work with the Communications team and SERG staff to promote the group’s project work via outreach on Twitter. Support maintenance of the group’s project webpages with up-to-date information. Proof-read project communications and other outputs as appropriate.

- Planning & Engagement Activities: Provide administration support to the team by assisting in the preparation of team workshops and away days, stakeholder, and community meet ups. Supporting meetings as appropriate through recording, distribution and monitoring of minutes and actions.


Essential Skills:


- Excellent interpersonal skills.

- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Possession of excellent IT skills and ability to use digital tools.

- Strong verbal and written communications skills.

- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills and an ability to work to deadlines and manage time and resources effectively.

- Take responsibility for tasks to completion, proactively looking to improve.

- Literacy Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience (e.g. GCSE, NVQ, Key Skills, Welsh Baccalaureate Intermediate, Scottish National Certificate level 5 etc.)

- Numeracy Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience (e.g. GCSE, NVQ, Key Skills, Welsh Baccalaureate Intermediate, Scottish National Certificate level 5 etc.)


Desirable Skills:


- Experience of working with finance.

- Project management experience.

- Previous experience of working in a research environment, data or analytical team would be advantageous.

- Knowledge in using reference databases such as Mendeley, Endnote or Zotero
