Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Anaesthetic Consultant to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our anaesthesia department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical supervision of junior medical staff and take an active role in the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of the department's business plan.
  • Be aware of and comply with all Trust infection prevention and control policies, and be accountable for the implementation of the Code of Practice within your department/area of responsibility.
  • Take a lead role in the day-to-day organisation of anaesthetic services in a busy teaching hospital, and be familiar with current healthcare initiatives and changes.
  • Undertake and complete audit projects and quality improvement initiatives, and have a thorough understanding of principles of medical audit.
  • Contribute to clinical research and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and exam preparation.
Requirements
  • Full registration with the GMC and completion of a subspecialty training programme in anaesthesia.
  • Additional qualifications or diplomas in specialist areas, such as Perioperative Medicine, Trauma Sciences, or Regional Anaesthesia.
  • Wide experience in delivery of anaesthesia for general, major/high-risk surgery, and trauma/CEPOD surgery.
  • Experience in high-risk obstetrics, pre-assessment, and perioperative medicine.
  • Additional training or fellowship in a specialist area.
