The selected candidate will collaborate with a team of Consultant Anaesthetists to oversee the administration of intravenous anaesthesia and sedation, as well as provide comprehensive peri-procedural care. Responsibilities include:
- Leading the anaesthesia team across multiple procedure rooms during operational hours.
- Engaging in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Full registration with the GMC and a valid licence to practice.
- Proven qualifications as a Consultant Anaesthetist, including a primary medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
- FRCA or equivalent with documented completion of higher specialist training.
- Inclusion in the Specialist Register for Anaesthesia.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Consultant within the UK healthcare system.
- Current Adult Life Support certification.
- Proof of malpractice indemnity relevant to the scope of practice.
- Demonstrated experience in administering local anaesthesia, conscious sedation, and general anaesthesia.
- Experience in conducting audits.
- Active participation in quality improvement projects.
- Ability to educate multidisciplinary teams in acute medical situations.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining relevant certifications.
- Strong organisational abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven leadership capabilities.
- Positive attitude towards teamwork and collaborative services.
- Knowledgeable in growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care.
- Competent in administering anaesthesia as per established protocols.
- Upholding a culture of safety and quality in patient care.
- Conducting thorough pre-anaesthesia assessments and patient interviews.
- Efficiently managing medications according to established guidelines.
- Adhering to infection control policies and safe practices.
- Ensuring accurate documentation of anaesthesia care and patient interactions.
- Advocating for patient safety and effective care delivery.
- Addressing the psychosocial needs of patients and their families.
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and comprehension).
- For international candidates, proof of English language proficiency and GMC registration is required.
