The team at Welbeck Health Partners is looking for dedicated Consultant Anaesthetists to oversee the administration of intravenous anaesthesia and sedation, as well as to provide comprehensive peri-procedural care. You will collaborate with fellow Consultant Anaesthetists to ensure optimal coverage across multiple procedure rooms operating throughout the week. Additionally, you will engage in performance enhancement and quality assurance initiatives.
Key Qualifications- Full registration with the GMC and a valid licence to practice
- Proven qualifications as a Consultant Anaesthetist, including a primary medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
- FRCA or equivalent, with evidence of completed higher specialist training
- Registered on the Specialist Register for Anaesthesia
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Consultant within the UK’s National Health Service
- Current Adult Life Support certification
- Proof of malpractice indemnity relevant to the scope of practice
- Demonstrated experience in administering local anaesthesia, conscious sedation, and general anaesthesia
- Experience in conducting audits
- Active participation in quality improvement initiatives
- Teaching experience in acute medical or emergency scenarios
- Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with evidence for annual appraisal
- Strong organisational skills
- Excellent communication abilities
- Leadership qualities
- Positive engagement with multidisciplinary team members
- Apply knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care
- Administer anaesthesia in accordance with the Centre's governing protocols
- Foster a culture of safety and quality in all practices
- Conduct thorough pre-anaesthesia assessments and airway evaluations
- Ensure efficient medication management following established protocols
- Adhere to infection control policies and safe injection practices
- Maintain patient oversight in relation to anaesthesia status until care is transitioned to qualified personnel
- Communicate effectively regarding patient conditions and ongoing care requirements
- Document all aspects of anaesthesia care and management techniques accurately
- Conduct post-anaesthesia assessments and document findings appropriately
- Advocate for patients to ensure safe delivery of care
- Collaborate on anaesthetic plans, particularly in high-risk scenarios
- Manage patient discharges in accordance with established criteria
- Treat patients and their families with dignity and respect
- Address the psychosocial needs of patients and their families
- Document narcotic usage and waste as per organisational policies
- Respond effectively to emergency situations requiring anaesthesia expertise
- Verify the functionality of resuscitative equipment prior to procedures
- Ensure documentation meets current standards and complies with Centre policies
- Adhere to the Medical Staff bylaws of the Centre
- Proficient in English (comprehension, reading, and writing)
- For international candidates, proof of passing English language exams and provisional GMC registration is required.
