About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Account Handler to join our team at Howden Insurance Brokers Ltd. As an Account Handler, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clients' insurance requirements, providing exceptional service, and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in achieving client retention targets by delivering outstanding service and building strong relationships with clients.
  • Liaise effectively with the Account Executive to develop and implement renewal strategies, attend client meetings, and action meeting points.
  • Conduct market research to establish competitive terms and negotiate with insurers to secure the best possible deals.
  • Obtain renewal terms, present them to clients, and issue renewal documentation in line with contract certainty.
  • Ensure premiums are collected prior to the commencement of cover and in accordance with Howden procedures.
  • Handle all client queries, whether written or verbal, in a professional manner and process them effectively in line with service standards.
  • Record all relevant information, correspondence, and documentation on our systems and utilize our diary system efficiently.
  • Produce accurate and professional documentation at all times using our standard templates.
  • Process adjustments in line with procedures, including notification to insurers, issue of revised documentation, and collection of additional premium.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell products from other divisions and collaborate with colleagues to achieve business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of all main classes of General Insurance and the CII's Code of Ethics and GDPR.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience dealing with SME or commercial clients.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Good level of technical insurance skills, to be assessed by regular in-house testing.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to process work quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Good negotiation and broking skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information from clients.
  • Ability to identify and respond appropriately to an individual client's level of understanding.
  • Ability to persuade and influence others.
