Job Overview

Fife Council seeks a skilled Communication Support Specialist to provide sign language interpretation support in a high school setting, enabling access to education and services for children, young people, and their families.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide sign language interpretation support, offer advice, and provide training to staff within the Education Service. They will work under the line manager of the Deaf Support Service within the Supporting Learners Service.

Requirements

To be qualified for this role, you must be qualified in British Sign Language (BSL) to at least SCQF Level 10 - BSL Level 6. Effective communication skills, particularly the interpretation of spoken and written English into BSL and BSL to English, are essential. Experience working in a dynamic environment and as part of a team is also required.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is around £25,000-£35,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additionally, the successful candidate will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
