Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure seamless onboarding and offboarding processes at designated times and locations as directed by senior production managers or duty managers.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols by wearing provided personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Maintain open and clear communication channels with the Rail Plant Control Room and Help Desk, ensuring timely and effective exchange of information.
  • Work diligently to maintain a safe and competent work environment.
  • Develop and retain knowledge acquired through training programs.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations as required.

OTM Operating

  • Receive comprehensive training on the operation of OTMs.
  • Take ownership of repairing and servicing faults and failures, with a focus on minimizing downtime.
  • Report all service-related issues in writing and verbally to the Rail Plant Control Desk and Help Desk in a timely manner.
  • Operate track machines in accordance with strict railway standards.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and safety checks, and collaborate with specialist fitter staff to resolve machine breakdowns or issues.

Fitting

  • Assist specialist fitter staff in conducting maintenance tasks.
  • Immediately report machine faults and failures to the Rail Plant Control Desk.
  • Complete all maintenance duties as outlined in the Maintenance Fitter Assessment Scheme.

Person Specification

  • Proficient in computer and phone skills, with a strong understanding of Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Flexible, honest, and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
  • Hold a certified NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • In possession of a clean, full, and valid road vehicle driving license, enabling the safe operation of company vehicles.
  • Committed to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and sense of professional pride.
  • Willings to work flexible hours, including weekends and night shifts.
  • Mechanically inclined, with a strong problem-solving ability.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in computer/phone skills.
