About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Children's Safeguarding Specialist to join our team at Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Named Professional for Safeguarding Children, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children across Berkshire.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safeguarding Advice: Provide expert advice and guidance to staff on child protection matters, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to identify and respond to concerns.
  • Child Protection Conferences: Attend conferences to provide objective assessments of risk and contribute to multi-agency decision-making processes, ensuring the best possible outcomes for children.
  • Clinical Supervision: Offer tailored clinical supervision to staff working with children, focusing on child protection best practices and developing their expertise.
  • Training and Development: Design and deliver training programs for staff on child protection, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other agencies and professionals to share best practices, develop new initiatives, and improve safeguarding outcomes for children.

Requirements

  • Education: Registered nurse/midwife/children's nurse with a strong educational background and up-to-date professional development.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience working with children and families, preferably in a community setting, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality child protection services.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of child protection policies, procedures, and legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and its amendments.
