Dispute Resolution Specialist for Children's Services

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Dispute Resolution Specialist to join our team in supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, be well-organized, and motivated to contribute to the success of our SEN services.
This role requires collaboration with our Tribunals and Mediations Manager in all aspects of service delivery, including developing and refining internal processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
The successful candidate will also manage casework, prepare responses, and represent Achieving for Children in appeals and mediations, identifying opportunities to de-escalate issues before they reach formal appeal routes.
We offer a competitive salary of around £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including 29 days annual leave, flexible working options, and access to professional development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine internal tribunal and mediation systems and processes
- Manage casework, preparing responses, and representing Achieving for Children in appeals and mediations
- Collaborate with legal teams to ensure effective representation and decision-making
- Identify opportunities to de-escalate issues before they reach formal appeal routes
- Attend SEND panels and provide training related to SEND tribunals and mediation
Requirements:
- Relevant professional qualification or Level 3+ training in SEND-related areas
- Proven experience in building strong partnerships, maintaining relationships, and co-producing solutions with diverse stakeholders
- Knowledgeable in representing Local Authorities at SEND and Disability Tribunals, particularly in lower-risk appeals
- Experienced in mediation and disagreement resolution with parents and professionals
- Skilled in arranging and chairing conferences, performing duties related to First Tier Tribunals and appeals
