Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a specialist school providing a safe and supportive environment for students aged 5-19 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with challenging behaviors in a compassionate and structured environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Helping to prepare classroom materials and maintaining a safe and organized learning environment.
  • Liaising with teachers, parents, and external professionals to contribute to students' education plans and progress reviews.
  • Accompanying students on educational trips and outdoor learning activities.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress to inform teaching strategies and interventions.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A strong passion to teach outside of a mainstream environment.
  • An ability to work as part of a team and a flexible approach to meet the school's requirements.
  • Experience working in special needs school settings, preferably with SEMH students.
