About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Training and Development Specialist to join our team at Kumon. As a key member of our instructional support team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standard of Kumon instruction across our study centres in the UK, Ireland, and Europe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Deliver Training Sessions: Develop, implement, and facilitate training sessions for Kumon Instructors and Associates, ensuring they meet business needs and align with best practice and the IPG system.
  • Annual Training Schedule: Create and manage an annual schedule for trainings, providing timely and effective training to Kumon Instructors, Instructor trainees, and Associates.
  • Training Administration: Collaborate with the Team Administrator and other team members to administer, maintain records, and develop administrative processes for trainings.
  • Centre Support and Observation: Attend Instructor centres to support and observe them, reviewing the effectiveness of trainings provided and researching best practice to present findings to the team.
  • Project Management: Achieve set instruction goals and company strategy by undertaking, planning, developing, reporting on, and completing assigned projects in a proactive and timely manner.
  • Training Strategies and Policies: Assist the line manager in developing and implementing training strategies, policies, and procedures that meet company needs.
  • Progress Updates: Regularly update the line manager and other personnel on project progress, providing qualitative and quantitative information as necessary.
  • Instructional Understanding: Continuously develop a deeper understanding of the Instruction Principles and Guide (IPG) system and the Kumon Method of instruction through self-development, centre visits, worksheet study, instruction of students, and attendance at trainings.
  • Voluntary Study Group: Run and supervise a Voluntary Study Group (VSG) or Worksheet Study Group (WSG) to support Instructor and Associate development, as requested or as per company strategy.
  • Support and Guidance: Provide support and guidance to Area Managers and field staff on instruction and the IPG system.
  • Internal Publications: Produce articles and internal publications to support the development of instructional understanding across Kumon Europe and Africa, as requested or as per company strategy.
  • Business Trips: Conduct business trips across KEA and other countries to facilitate trainings, attend meetings, and support trainings, as requested or as per company strategy.
  • Research and Development: Conduct research in training and learning techniques and provide findings to the team and line manager as required.
  • Training Materials: Develop, produce, proofread, and regularly review training and learning materials as required.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with relevant teams and Associates to accomplish the above tasks, including those in all companies across Kumon Europe and Africa.
  • Quality and Retention: Be proactive in ensuring Kumon develops and retains the highest level of quality Instructors.
  • Organisational Change: Support the implementation of organisational change, including structural, cultural, and business planning changes within the organisation.
  • Communication: Ensure effective communications within the team and keep Associates informed about matters relevant to their work.
  • Supervision and Meetings: Attend supervision, training, and meetings as required, which may be outside of normal working times.
  • Policies and Procedures: Work with, abide by, and positively promote all Kumon's policies and procedures.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality at all times in accordance with data protection and privacy legislation.
  • Additional Duties: Carry out all reasonable duties as and when requested by your line manager or any other senior management member.
