Research Program Development Manager

Auburn University is seeking a highly skilled Manager of Research Program Development and Grants to join our team in the College of Sciences and Mathematics. This is an exciting opportunity to support faculty in securing extramural funding for groundbreaking research.
The successful candidate will oversee daily operations of promoting, identifying, and managing externally funded grants and contracts for the College. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting faculty in developing competitive grant proposals to foundations, state, and federal funding agencies.
- Overseeing and assisting with writing, editing, and proofreading text of contracts and grants, including reorganizing content for better flow and editing to comply with APA and other style guidelines.
- Providing support for PIs with large research portfolios in spending plan and projections, effort management, effort certification, and current and pending reporting.
- Leading new contract and grant award kick-off meetings with PI, Department, Staff, and other stakeholders to reduce administrative burden and ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor policy.
- Developing educational and informative workshops, classes, materials, and professional development for research admin staff and PIs.
To be successful in this role, the candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, such as science, mathematics, accounting, business, communications, or English, and at least 5 years of experience in developing research opportunities, grant preparation, and grant accounting with progressively increasing levels of responsibility and accountability.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the nature of research at the university level, as well as knowledge of assessment and evaluations, work plan development, and budget development.
A Master's degree or higher in a relevant field is highly desirable.
